Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Episode 57 : Eternal Leave

 

 Under Central Command, Lan Fan is walking through an underground tunnel when he overhears some soldiers mention that the Führer has returned and destroyed the Briggs tank. Lan Fan realizes that he is at the main gate. Fu, now knowing that Wrath is King Bradley, prepares his sword as he recognizes this man as the one responsible for losing Lan Fan's arm and nearly killing her. In the Führer's office, General Armstrong and Izumi confront Brigadier Edison and force him to confirm that they are going to sacrifice the general population of Amestris and unite all the countries. Major Armstrong asks if Bradley knew about this, and Edison reveals that he was created to be a part of this right to the very end. Seeing the Central soldiers hesitate, Edison says that it is to create a world without war, the population will become part of the Philosopher's Stone, and eventually Amestris will unite the entire world. However, an enraged Izumi smacks him with her sandal and asks the confused soldiers what they will do now that they know the truth. He knocks Edison down again when he apologizes.

The soldiers have a hard time believing this because of their military duties, but Olivier says that following a superior they don't believe in is not true loyalty, but self-delusion. Izumi mentions that they should believe in themselves. After much thought, the soldiers remove their insignia from their uniforms and say that this is their answer. Olivier makes a call and learns that the Central troops have begun to reorganize and are likely near the Führer's office. Olivier asks his Communications men to stand back if the situation becomes too risky. Seeing the stairs leading down as the only way out, Izumi says that once they're through, she'll make a tunnel with alchemy like before and use it to escape, asking if Oliver will join her so they can regroup. At the location of Ed's group, he and Scar are able to tell that they are close to their destination. Upon arrival, they meet Doctor Goldtooth, who reveals that he created King Bradley. Colonel Mustang, having heard the story before, knows that the doctor is on the enemy's side. The Doctor is surprised that Mustang is here and not at the radio tower, but admits it will save him trouble.

The Doctor summons some zombie soldiers who are initially mistaken for dummy soldiers as the men dodge the group's attacks, but Scar realizes that they are not and the Doctor claims that they are actually failed candidates for the role of Führer. As he draws a transmutation circle on the floor, the Doctor admits that their combat training makes them strong, though not as strong as Bradley himself. Meanwhile, while Wrath battles Greed/Ling and Fu at the main gate, 2nd Lt. Falman continues to use the machine gun in the hallway to stop the soldiers in the hallway from going up the stairs. The wounded Captain Buccaneer wakes up and realizes that if he takes out Bradley's sword, which he used to stab him in the stomach earlier, he will quickly bleed to death. Wrath stops Greed's attack from above and times it to throw it at Fu so Fu can't attack. As the two argue, Wrath steps forward and kicks Greed face down, quickly inserting one of his knives into Ling's coat so Greed can't move.

Wrath then focuses his efforts on Fu with his second knife, and all Fu can do is block until Bradley catches the hilt of his sword with his knife, forcing them to switch weapons. Using the sword and knowing that the knife was partially damaged earlier, he continues to attack Fu until the knife breaks and Fu tries to dodge, but his scarf is cut and his forehead suddenly begins to bleed, blinding him. Wrath admits that Fu moves very fast on an older man who is older than him as he knocks Fu down, knocking off his body armor and causing Fu to bleed from the chest. Ling takes control of his body and saves Fu before Wrath finishes him off. Realizing what happened, Wrath criticizes Ling for risking his life again to save someone. Fu says that Ling will leave him behind as he is too injured to continue. Ling argues with him because it goes against his beliefs, especially since Wrath intends to sacrifice his own people. As Fu begins to say what Ling needs to find, he spits out blood and realizes that his chest wound is bleeding faster, he knows he had it and knocks Ling to the ground, encouraging Greed to protect her master's body (which Greed does ). Fu charges forward and reveals his trump card, Xinges four bombs for a suicide attack, but Wrath cuts the fuses and causes Fu to bleed out faster. As Fu regrets not being able to finish his last attack, Buccaneer uses Bradley's sword to pierce Fu's body and stab Wrath through the chest, admitting that even Wrath's Ultimate Eye cannot sense attacks unless he sees him first. The Buccaneer then says that the two of them can take Bradley to hell with them together, which Fu agrees to as he dies.

Just as Wrath kicks Fu and Buccaneer away, Greed attacks, destroying Fu's sword and Wrath's Ultimate Eye in the process. At the top of the tower, Lan Fan arrives and, witnessing this, cries out as she watches her grandfather die. In Central, Al's group watches smoke coming from Central HQ and wondering if their friends are okay, they quickly head in that direction. Ed's group fighting the zombie soldiers have trouble taking them down, and at one point Lt. Hawkeye saves the Mustang from being shot down while the Doctor continues to work on his transmutation ring. In the stairwell, Izumi explains to Olivier about the Gate, admitting that after her entrails were removed, human transmutation was impossible all along. Alex mentions that the people who saw the Gate are victims and it's probably a clue to what the enemy is up to. Izumi asks Olivier if there's anyone she'd like to see again, but Olivier says he's not interested in those who died and instead focuses on making sure people don't die. Olivier admits that when she first met Ed, she had to guess what he was hiding because he was only protecting his childhood friend and he also looked like someone who wasn't part of the state military because he was protecting someone very important. him. He openly questions whether his naivety will be a help or a hindrance to their cause.

By now the Doctor's preparations are complete and a zombie soldier stops Hawkeye's attempt to kill the Doctor. Summoning some soldiers, the doctor activates the transmutation ring for its first phase. Upon being questioned by the doctors, Ed quickly realizes that the five-point transmutation ring is activated by connecting to the same type of transmutation rings in the basement of each of the five labs, and Hawkeye notes that the curved passageways were meant to aid this connection. This creates a minor earthquake that around Central the animals and the Heinkel Chimera that is with Al group can detect. Just as Izumi is ready to make an escape tunnel, Olivier rejects her previous offer as she has to stay to help in the fight. Alex and the soldiers admit that they are ready to aim and face the heart of the enemy. Just as Izumi thanks Olivier, the transmutation ring summons the Gate, sacrificing the zombie soldiers the Doctor placed around him, and the victims—Ed, Al, and Izumi—are transported to another location.
