Ed's group continues underground towards Father's lair, though Ed wonders where. When Roy Mustang suggests that they are lost, this infuriates Ed, because if it wasn't for him and Scar, Mustang would have gotten lost sooner. Mustang shrugs this off, stating that with Lt. Hawkeye's help, he was able to regain control of his senses earlier. Scar asks that they leave it down or the enemy will find them. Hawkeye thanks Scar for helping her bring Mustang back to her senses earlier, expecting that Scar as Ishvalan wouldn't want someone like her to thank him. Shocked, Scar replies that her words are not needed.

Outside, Briggs soldiers receive orders to stop the Briggs tank from firing on Central Command as a message is relayed over loudspeakers to the Central soldiers that Briggs soldiers have taken control. While the Central troops are stunned, General Klemin internally realizes that Brigg's tank fire at Central HQ was a distraction for Izumi Curtis to use her alchemy to dig a hole underground to enter Central HQ undetected, which Izumi confirms.

Upon learning in the area they are in that the operations center has been taken over, Olivier Armstrong contacts Captain Buccaneer and alerts him to the threat of the Mannequin Soldiers and orders him to deal with them as soon as possible before they can escape from command center and into the city. Before another general can take control of the Führer's office, Mannequin soldiers arrive and kill him and his entourage, while others appear where Olivier and Alex Armstrong are.

Olivier replies to the soldier's question that these dummies are known as the Immortal Legion, who are implanted with human souls and do not fear death, which the soldier and the other recruits will probably have their souls implanted into when they die, which is the soldier. frightened s. Sloth regenerates again from Alex's spikes and moves at high speed, knocking Alex and Olivier to the ground before Alex could trap him again with another transmuted spike. Alex orders the soldiers not to help them because they are what the sloth is after. When one of the soldiers notices one of Sloth's large chains near them, they are able to use it to teleport Sloth to use his speed to further injure Alex and Olivier. Although they wish to escape, Alex, remembering his previous disgrace from the Ishval Civil War, refuses to simply flee the battlefield again. Just as the Sloth breaks free from the chain and attacks the Armstrong siblings, a giant transformed hand appears and knocks the Sloth down. Izumi is responsible, admitting that Alex is a good man, although her husband is a hundred times gentler than him. After revealing to Olivier that her subordinate Buccaneer had sent her to help them, Izumi quickly grabs the arm of the attacking sloth and throws it for Sig Curtis to strike it in the neck with a powerful blow that shocks the Armstrong siblings. Alex asks who the man is, and Izumi claims it's her husband, just as the two muscular men flex their muscles in front of each other before shaking hands. When Sloth attacks again, both Alex and Sig work in perfect sync to hit him with several simultaneous blows before each grabs Sloth's arm and throws him into the ceiling, Sloth landing on one of Alex's previously transmuted spikes. Before he can free himself, Sloth's body dissolves due to the use of his Philosopher's Stone's power, and finding himself dying, he gives his last words that living was too bothersome before he completely dissolved.

As Alex breaks down, Sig helps him keep his spirits up, while Olivier needs time to rest from the battle to let the soldiers head out to deal with the dummies. Thanking Izumi for her help, once Izumi mentions her relationship with the Elric brothers as well as being a housewife and an alchemist, Olivier realizes Izumi's identity. Suspecting that the Elrics are already nearby, Alex decides to help deal with the Mannequin soldiers, with Olivier ready to help despite her injuries. Alex declares that as adults they must not lie down while the young people fight, and Olivier agrees as they must help carry the burden to show the world a way to live. Although the Armstrongs want Curtis' help, Izumi admits that since she is technically the victim, after assisting in the fight, she plans to escape shortly before the man catches her when Hohenheim confronts her father in his hideout.

Father asks why Hohenheim is so gloomy, to which Hohenheim replies that he is no fun anymore because he has changed compared to when he was in that flask centuries ago. Hohenheim points out that while the seven deadly sins can destroy a person who has excessive appetites, at the same time each of these feelings is necessary if one is to understand humanity. Father questions why father cut himself off from them, instead he attacks with alchemy, with Hohenheim asking him why he created the Homunculi and had them call him father when he uses his own alchemy to block father's own attacks. Hohenheim then says that when the father was in that flask, he hated the concept of a family, even though he actually wanted one of his own.

The father responds by sinking into the ground, re-emerging from behind to impale Hohenheim with his arm in the gut, and declares that he wishes to use the Nationwide Transmutation Ring to become not human, but instead a perfect being, and plans to absorb the Philosopher's Stone in Hohenheim for himself. However, his plan to integrate immediately fails and Hohenheim declares that the Father's plan will not go as smoothly as expected.

In Central, a jeep containing a group of Als is trapped in the cover of a drainage hole. While Al plans for him and Heinkel to take care of pulling the tire, they are unaware that a mysterious figure is walking past them.

In Central, Buccaneer saves a trio of female soldiers from the Mannequins before asking them to retreat to the Operations Center, though he also admits that these Mannequin soldiers are also partially helping their own cause to deal with the Central troops. In their area, the Armstrong siblings and the Curtis family easily remove the dummies without needing help from other soldiers. They then see General Edison being attacked by them, surprised that they are doing this because they are supposed to be on their side. Izumi saves Edison and just as he asks her to join his side, she punches Edison in the stomach and asks what he said about this "good gentleman" and wishes to know more.

Olivier and Alex arrive at the Führer's office, which is in disarray from the earlier battle. When he says that operations won't be set up here because it's too easy to shoot, Olivier learns of a staircase that leads down to the basement. As Olivier suspects it will lead to the underground area where the Mannequin soldiers come from, he is interrupted by a call that Buccaneer's squad secured the main gate.

The people in the Communications Room ask Buccaneer to stay away until all the Mannequin soldiers are taken out. Just as more news comes in, confirming that 9/10ths of Central Command is under their control, and just as Briggs' soldiers celebrate their victory, a voice comes over the radio saying that things have moved while he's been gone. Olivier realizes that King Bradley survived the assassination attempt and returned to Central. As a mysterious figure who passed through Al's group a little earlier, he sends word that all the remaining Central troops will join him and drive these rebels out of Central Command. Vato Falman quickly sees Bradley coming at them from the main gate.
